How to Prepare your Child for School

There are several key aspects to consider in order to provide a smooth transition and a positive experience for this upcoming school year.

Meet & Greet

First and foremost, we want you and your child to start establishing relationships and building connections with your child’s teacher. To help ease your student’s first day anxieties, Arborland has planned an upcoming Meet & Greet for new incoming students this school year. Bring any first day questions you may have!

Please join us on August 9, 2024 at our Hughes and Valencia Campus - Details Here

Establish a Routine

Gain familiarity with the regular schedule you strive to maintain. This includes waking up, meals, playtime, and bedtime. Consistency helps children feel secure and prepared.

TIP: Start early as routines take time to establish! Use positive reinforcement to celebrate their efforts and accomplishments.

Practice Independence

Encourage your child to practice everyday skills on their own, such as dressing themselves, using the restroom independently, and tidying up. Also encourage your child to practice asking for help. These skills will boost their confidence at school. Label their Belongings

The proper label for your child’s belongings prevents you from losing any special articles.

TIP: Involve them in packing their school bag. This gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Stay Informed

Encourage your child to practice everyday skills on their own, such as dressing themselves, using the restroom independently, and tidying up. Also encourage your child to practice asking for help. These skills will boost their confidence at school. Confirm we have the right contact information for your child. Your child’s teacher has sent out a greeting letter to introduce themselves. It will also include day-to-day communication information, a daily schedule, and essentials to thrive in the classroom. Teacher greeting letters are also on our website at https://www.arborland.com/our-teachers-staff.

Overall, be positive! By focusing on these aspects, you can help your child feel confident and prepared for the exciting journey of starting school, whether returning or as a new student.
